A small crew, every job staffed by people on payroll.
Einstein Pavers & Artificial Grass is a Los Angeles hardscape and turf company. We've been around since 2014. We've never subcontracted a project. That's the whole pitch.
Started in a Toyota Tacoma in 2014.
Jason Durham started Einstein Pavers out of a single pickup truck after eight years apprenticing under one of LA County's longtime stonemasons. The first job was a 280-square-foot front walkway in Mid-City — Connecticut bluestone, lime mortar, joints set by hand. The neighbors watched, asked for cards, and the second and third job were down the block.
Twelve years later we're still picky about who we hire and what we install. Our crew is eight people deep — five installers, two designers, and one office lead — and every one of them is a W-2 employee. Nobody on your driveway is a subcontractor we met that morning.
"If we wouldn't lay it in our own backyard, we won't lay it in yours. That's the whole rule."
— Jason Durham, Founder
What we believe
- Base work is the project. If the gravel and bedding aren't right, the prettiest stone in the world will dish out in two winters.
- Show up when you say you will. If the truck's running late, you get a call. We don't disappear and we don't ghost.
- Quote it once. The number we hand you on day one is the number we charge on the last day. Change orders only when you ask for them.
- Stand behind it. Ten-year warranty on hardscape, eight-year on turf. Free joint-sand top-up at six and twelve months.
Anywhere in LA County. Same crew.
From Malibu to Pasadena, Long Beach to the Valley. We don't farm out neighborhoods to other contractors — wherever the job is, our trucks show up.
